farming and geography
ïHow did the geography affect the farming, agriculture, hunting, and trade
practices of the civilization?
The Maya lived in the area in Central America which now consists of Yucatan, Guatemala,
Belize and southern Mexico (the Chiapas and Tabasco provinces). This whole area
lies south of the tropic of Cancer, and north of the equator, and is about 900 kilometers from north
to south and 550 kilometers in the east-west direction. The mayan used slash
and burn farming so that try clear the area and plant some thing like corn and
get 100% of the result the next year they would have 60% and it would go down
from there. This is actually a very effective form of farming because they use
all of the land for its potential . The Mayans grew corn beans and squash. They
plant these types of plants because they grow best in the warmer climates and the
Central American climate is a amazon like climate.
